Gatka session – Punjabi Martial Art form

Varanasi
Everyday

Gatka is the Sikh Martial Art form using wooden sticks, Chakri, and other indigenous equipment to simulate sword and weapon fighting. With a history tracing back to Guru Gobind Singh, Gatka was introduced to instill a high state of awareness among the people in all tasks – extending beyond warfare. Even today, several Sikh kids in rural Punjab grow up learning this most skillful art.

The purpose of the session is to introduce the participants to Gatka using a hands-on approach. It’s completely safe for people of all age groups, and immensely fun! Leading the workshop would be a skilled Gatka practitioner, also well-versed with the historical origins of the art and its cultural significance.

Before you Go to Amritsar read this or you will miss so much!! (Old City, Golden Temple, and Gatka)

Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple): You cannot put into words what you will see here. It was one of the most stately, loving, peaceful, and generous places you will visit in India (I have been around a bit). The beauty cannot be appreciated with out actually seeing it. Look on line and you will see the pictures that plainly fall short of the spectacularness of the home of the Guru Granth Sahib. It is a living book and a living place. Tarundeep did a marvelous job of giving us just not the visual and historical facts. He gave us the spiritual essence of the most holy place for the Sikh community. You cannot help but be compelled to service when you get there. DO NOT MISS A CHANCE TO HELP IN THE COMMUNITY By – Donbloyer (13 January 2020)
