At Zostel i saw a poster about Roobaroo walks where you pay as you wish. On a pretour to fix up things for a later students study tour i contacted Aayush for a Roobaroo walk. As i was short on time, he moved his schedule to fit me in and took me on a personal trot – thru the bylanes/markets/ghats/temples of Benaras. In a new crowded city i felt suddenly at ease with Aayush in the know of where to go, what to see, how much to do in the time in hand. Very accommodating, very pleasant and knowledgeable. it was a very insightful, very informative and experiential 3 hour trip that was hurried to match my pace yet relaxed to soak in the silence of the ghats. We finished at his very neat cultural centre nicely done up with cushions on the floor, paintings of Varanasi and books on the city. I highly recommend the walk and if you have time do drop in at his center for a meal or just for a lazy cultural evening with music and art. in Benarasi gharana style.

We visited Varanasi and our daughters participated in a local Art (sketching, coloring, painting local scenes) organized by Roobaroo walks. The process of getting in touch with Roobaroo walks and booking the session was very simple. Anupam from Roobaroo was very responsive and helped us with the arrangements. Our daughters did a 2 hour session with a local artist (Hitesh) that they enjoyed very much and we got souvenir paintings of typical varanasi scene made by our daughters that we can keep to cherish memories from our visit. Worthwhile couple of hours and a good momento in return.
